Maaaay

She's getting sooo big!
Running through the train at travel town.

The Cozy Coupe created some cool hairdo's
Doesn't it look like he's proposing?

Tonight Oliver let Marissa hold his hand and walk him around the house for the first time. He has been walking since right before his first birthday, and doing so more and more on his own, but did not let her hold his hand before tonight (although he practically begs for ours to walk with half the day!). And, the point being, it was just the SWEETEST moment ever! They surprised me by walking into the kitchen together just before bedtime, and they both had such proud little looks on their faces that screamed "look at us Mommy, see what we can do!" My heart just about melted. Marissa was sooo pleased. Of course she was over it about 5 minutes later and Oliver was screaming in the middle of her room as she sat on her bed and he was bawling because she was all done with that game! But, let me tell you, it really was just the sweetest while it lasted! I've been trying to get a good video of Oliver walking around, but it is so tough for some reason. Either is he is crying for the camera, falling on a toy or Marissa is wanting to be in the spotlight. I got some okayish ones on my phone tonight of them walking together, but I need to fix my Mac to get the up to this blog. The older he gets, the more they are really able to play and interact together. Sure, he doesn't have many words yet, but they have a hoot of a time anyways. Mainly, he just wants to be doing exactly what his big sis is up to, whether that's glitter gluing, coloring with crayons or chalk, building blocks and Lego's (or should I say deconstructing, because that's his main job, he has to do what she does. She is an amazingly good sport about it to, because he is constantly in her face, knocking down anything she's doing, tearing her art projects, etc. It's not always easy being a big sister! We've been doing a lot of hanging out in May! Enjoying the new house, taking little local trips and just having a good time. Here are some pics from the past couple of weeks:
"Hey, wait for me!"

Thank goodness glitter glue is non-toxic!
"Mom, I've got this under control."

Cute Moments of the Day

I managed to retain a few cute moments that made my day today. Usually the moments are sadly "in one ear and out the other," or hopefully tucked away in some deep memory to surface when I'm old and gray.

First when we hit Target for our usual list of suspects (diapers, wipes etc) we were in the checkout line and Marissa was as usual unloading each and every item onto the conveyor belt (is that what it's called, anyways, you know what I'm talking about right?) when Oliver who was in the front basket (Marissa in the big basket, also as per our usual standard) decided to start putting his yogurt melts toddler snacks from their bag one by one onto the belt as well. I meanwhile was unloading the bottom of the cart, so when I looked up there were little purple yogurt melts interspersed marching their way slowly towards the checkout counter. Turns out anything you hand Oliver, he believes should go on the belt, a credit card, keys - mama just wanted to double check he knew what he was doing.  What a little helper, too cute! I have also decided that I should patent a toy that is an exact replica of the credit card machines found at stores like Target, the ones where you swipe your card and there is that electronic pen attached. Eight times out of 10 we have toddler tears about wanting to get his paws on that machine to manhandle it, and Marissa is also still fascinated by it.
Then we went to our next stop, Ralphs (our local socal chain grocery store.) They had just remodelled this Ralph's and in the produce department they installed wooden floors that actually look quite nice and welcoming. We have always had houses with hardwood floors and we have always taken our shoes off at the front door. When we entered Ralph's Marissa stopped at the double doors and said, "Mom should we take our shoes off?" At first I thought, "what is she thinking?" But, since it was our first time going in this Ralph's since the re-model, it soon became clear what she was talking about. Mama also thought this was too cute!
Also, in world breaking news, Oliver showed me for the first time today, he has discovered his nose has a hole and he thinks it is downright hilarious to stick a finger up there and leave it. Of course I laughed too, just encouraging this behavior even more.
I may write a post with just some photos from the last month since with the move and Oliver's birthday I skipped the whole month of blogging. Suffice it to say we have been having a lot of fun!
